A life in the wilderness

Benny and I reach all the corners on our home.

We wonder through juniper, ponderosa and sage.

Each season welcomes a new hue of purple, red and green.

Only the trees talk with the breeze. As turkeys spread their wings to the top.

Drum’s hooves quietly let me know he has joined us. His nose nuzzles my back.

Three deer stare at us unmoving from across the gulch.

The house doesn’t bother the peace of the canyon.

It peeks though the trees as Benny leads us back.
