I remember your first day here. You ran to the gate, back, and looked up at me.
“Am I really home?” you asked, excited. I patted your head.
You ran to the bottom of the canyon, raced around the entire perimeter, and came back to me.
“Is it really all mine?” You wagged your tail.
“Yes, it is,” I said.
From that moment on, we were partners.
I have loved you, and you have loved me every moment for a decade.
I couldn’t wait to come home, knowing you would be at the gate, so happy to see me.
On every walk, I said your name and held out my hand. Soon, your head would be beneath my palm.
I knew every bark, whether it meant coyote, lion, or time for bed.
The other dogs followed your lead, with your stern look or raised paw.
On frigid nights, you would grace me on top of the covers. I have never felt warmer or safer.
Your face, your smile, your look of trust were only for me
Losing you is a hole so deep. The pain in my heart is irreparable.

I’m so sorry you lost your dearest, furry friend. Benny had a wonderful life because of you. ❤️
